Fresh from the mean streets of New York City, Angel Rodriguez is here to prove that she’s more than just an over made-up face. With cigar box tricks, acrobatics, hula hoop, pole dancing, and a death-defying vocal tribute to Whitney Houston, this loud-mouthed Latina has more bling-bling attitude than a Wall Street banker on the run.
Street culture collides with high art as Angel uses the plot of Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly” to narrate her own tragi-comic life-story. With a nostalgic '80's soundtrack, superb physical skill delivered in hot-pink lycra and hilarious audience participation, “Buttafly” is a high-energy, one-woman roller-coaster.
In development during late 2008, “Buttafly” premiered to a great response at Mira Miro (Festival of Ghent, Belgium) in July 2009, and this brand-new show is now ready for touring to Europe and beyond for summer 2010.
